Pillaiyar Kovil

This holy place was founded during the early times of British rule when the Bogambara Lake extended as far as the present spot marking the lake road as its boundary. The devotees had commenced building a shrine for Ganesh after finding a statue of the god in well there. According to tradition, the final day Perahara of the four Devales in Kandy starts from Pulleyar Kovil after the water-cutting ceremony.
