    Description

Danture Viharaya, Tampita viharaya – a temple on pillars named after the village. The ground floor of this temple is used as a Bana Maduva or a Preaching hall. On four pillars at the centre of the hall are sculptured musicians and dancers. On the upper floor is the image house in which is a seated Buddha image under a Makara Torana. The timbered ceiling and the walls carry paintings of the kandyan period.
